It’s time for whale watching! Roughly 15,000 gray whales are heading south toward the warm lagoons of Baja, Mexico for breeding and birthing. They have been feeding in and around the cold arctic seas near Alaska during summer and early fall. Typically, December and January are great times to spot whales passing by the Oregon coast. So … bundle up and head to the coast! Volunteers will be available during Winter Whale Watch week (December 27 through 31) from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm to help! In addition, volunteers are available to help answer questions, and some may want to provide you with a fun fact or two.
For more information go to stateparks.oregon.gov and click the Whale Watching tab. There are fifteen sites where volunteers will be available, but you can watch on your own–anywhere! I will be at Heceta Head Lighthouse on December 28 and 30. Friends, if you have any whale questions, PLEASE send them by email: bluesong@nancyrhodesauthor.com. And if you want to be among the first to receive news about my whale watching, whale talks, or my book(s), then please sign up for my newsletter!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE!
