My first published novel, Blue Song, was inspired by my love of the ocean, whales, southern Chile, and an inner yearning for adventure.
I grew up in Northern California where from the time I could put sentences together, I wanted to write stories. At age twenty I grew restless and left for Chile, intending to stay one year. I stayed nearly six after falling in love with the country and the people. Many years after returning to the Bay Area, I moved to the central coast of Oregon where my passion for whales and whale watching began.
I was fortunate to return to Chile in 2018 to connect with my dear friends in Santiago, and to explore different regions in Patagonia. Highlights of that trip included the gorgeous vistas of Puerto Varas, Chiloe Island (Castro), Torres del Paine, and the stunning Perito Moreno Glacier located in Los Glaciares National Park. In 2024, I’ll be returning to Chile to visit Santiago and the beautiful southern regions of The Lake District, Chiloe, and Valdivia.
